Charges on Delivery of Dresses

I received my dress and my bridesmaids dresses yesterday and when the driver arrived at the door he demanded £70. Something to do with import tax. Has this happened to anyone else? Why was I not told this would happen?

On a good note my dress and bridesmaids dresses were fabulous. I had chosen mine in a local bridal shop and it was perfect.

It can happen. It is up to your country if they are going to charge taxes, duties or tariffs. They know they are losing the sale in their country so they are trying everything they can to get their local taxes out of you. We do everything we can to get them through without being taxed but they do randomly check boxes and charge the taxes. Glad to hear the dresses are great! :)
