Why do so many people insist on wearing informal gowns in colors other than white for their second wedding?
Is it true that people expect you to wear something less just because you have been married before?

That's a good question. I could care less if I saw someone in a white wedding dress for a second marriage. I have no idea where that came from.

Hello Ladies.
New girl in here and second time around bride to be...
To answeer you question: why not to wear white dress?
Because since very long time ago white colored dress symbolised purity(read virginity) of the bride. SInce we are not really a virgins any longer a real white wedding gown and veil will be inapropriet.
However any pastel color of a dress with tiara or flowers in hair could be quite charming. I'm for the class all the way.
I have a coworker a lady in her very late 50's , many times grandma, got married in full bridal gown with floor lenght veil - it looked pretty aqword(not sure how it spells, hope you got it)
However I think if you are young at least early 30's I guess you can wear white dress but not veil..
I'm in my 50's and wont repeat my coworker nonsens - I will wear something in pale lilac, cocktail dress, may be with white sash, white shouse, tiara and bouqet of lilac- my wedding is in May, so it will be plenty of Lilacs-they are my favorite.
Any comments are welcome.
Appologising for misspels.
Good luck to all of us. :D

Hi gals My name is Robin Frazier and I live in philadelphia. I was wondering if someone could help me with a little problem. see i have been married for almost three years now but when we got married we did not have any money to invite our family and friends to our wedding so we just got married by ourselves. We now have been saving up for a wedding not real big maybe 100 to 150 people if that are going to be invited to our wedding. What are you allowed to wear? How many attendents are you allowed to have? How old are the ring bearer and the flowergirl supposed to be? I am very very new to this and I am hoping someone answers me soon. There are alot of questions I need answered Please help anyone. Thanks in advance

Sincerly,

I think it depends on what the couple decides on. Some couples have a casual wedding even on their first. If that is what is decided on it does not bother me if it is informal.

Here are some ideas.
1) Clothing - This is your chance to have the wedding you couldn't afford. Wear exactly what you want. I love the large ballgown types myself, but that is just my style. :D
2) Attendants - Choose people who are close to you. I chose my sister and two really close friends from childhood. A friend of mine had 12 attendants ranging from early teens to late 60s!
3) Flowergirl and ringbearer- Most people choose children from 4 or 5 up to 10 years of age. The only caution I have is how young they are jsut because you never know what little children will do.

This is my second marriage. I got married in Antigua last time and if anything it was very informal but I wore the big ivory dress etc.
This time I'm marrying in the UK (home) and its going to be bigger and better than my first wedding in so many ways. I'm having a big blingy dress covered in rhinestones with a matching veil and tiara, bridesmaids, flowergirls, the stately home-everything! I'm making up for lost time is what I say! By the way this dress is off-white. My last was ivory. Talk about tradtion.
