I think Hawaii is a great romantic place for a honeymoon. The whole place seems to revolve around romance so what better place to go then there for a honeymoon. :)

Here are a few more ideas. Hawaii is a wonderful place...or so I have heard. If you are unable to afford the $$$ why not try a cabin somewhere out of state? Colorado, Tennessee, Arkansas, Washington and Virginia have lovely mountains. There are also places like Italy or France that are romantic, but any language barrier could add stress.
For the first night I would suggest a bed and breakfast. It is really a lot nicer than hotels...and a bit more personal.

Eric and I are either going to go to Hawaii or to California and go see Napa Valley and all that :)

We live in Hawaii, so have absolutely NO interest in staying here or going to any tropical/beach type of location. Right now, since he's been to almost every concievable Asian country on his ship time and time again, the destination we have at the top of our list is Europe. Either a cruise or backpacking trip. I was thinking a wild backpacking adventure (while right up my alley) may be too stressful for my FH, so I'm leaning towards a cruise.

The Carribean is a great location spot.
Specifically the US Virgin Islands and Aruba.
My wife and I honeymooned on St. Croix and spent a day in St. Thomas. A good friend went to Aruba and fount it to be perfect.

How long does it take to get a passport?

If you need it rushed you can do that but it will cost you about twice what a normal passport does. Here in SC you drive to Atlanta. There are other passport centers around the nation. This is almost a 2 day turnaround.
If you can wait a little bit then you can expedite in 2 weeks through next day air. Again it is expensive.
If you have time and submit your passport through normal channels then 6-12 weeks is the expected turnaround.

We're really going for it for our honeymoon. We're getting married in Italy first and then back home (in England) for two nights then going to for a 7 night safari around Kenya staying at different game reserves with a morning hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara before a champagne breakfast. Then we're going to Zanzibar for 5 nights. I expect it will be the trip of our lives - can't wait!!!

Last August I went to Orlando Florida for our honeymoon. It was so much fun. We got to do all of the parks, water parks, zoos, botanical gardens, sea life, there was never a dull moment.
I really liked the many opportunities on the internet where I could find great deals on condos. It's actually really reasonably priced for the Orlando, Florida area. I added up what it would cost to stay in a boring hotel for the length of time we were there (9 days) and then added up what it would be if I rented a condo for 9 days. The condo was priced just about as reasonable, we had our own house, with a pool and our own private driveway and garage. The condo had a full living area and kitchen, laundry. We had everything we needed to have a great time and stay in our own place.
If anyone is looking to go to the Orland Florida area, you should browse through the options available. It can make your honeymoon trip a lot more private.

My husband and I went to El Dorado Royal in Mexico, Mayan Riviera.
Its was such a Paradise...no exageration, and no kids. The food was awsome. Several restaurants and pools so you always had a different place to explore. Entertainment every night as well.
The rooms were so nice with a jacuzzi in the main area. We felt so pampered.
We loved it there, and it only got great reviews when we did our research.
I think we spent roughly 1600 per person (Canadian) But it was an all inclusive and we felt it was well worth it.

I hope this helps...
