Hi, I'm recently in the market for a dress, but have no idea what shape dress would look best on my body type.
So I'm searching for any opinions about what style compliments what shape body.
I'm really interested in a floral-ish, lace-y, beaded Mermaid type dress...but not one so extremely tight. A Sheath shape dress would be cool too...
But would these styles look better on a very slim shaped woman?
Thanks in advance to anyone who comments. :)

I think you will get a lot of opinions on this. I tell my fiance to get whatever she likes. Who cares what other people think. It's your day and you should be happy. Plus, I guarantee you that whatever dress you do end up getting, there will always be a hater at the wedding that will not like it for some reason.

Go, try them on at the shops, decide what YOU like...not someone else...you're the one wearing the dress!

I know i know. I just have an moderately-intense distaste at the idea of going to stores and trying stuff on at this point.
There's so much pressure. It's so much hastle.
I'd like a mermaid I think but fear looking like a tightly wrapped "pig in a blanket". No offense to anyone.

can you take any pictures of you in these gowns and then post them up? That way we could give an honest opinion.

You should try a very slim A-line gown. It will make you look slim, but not be hugging you so tightly that you feel like you are a "pig-in-a-blanket". My gown is a slim A-line because I didn't want big and poofy, but I didn't want anything skintight either. You'll know when you have THE dress if you get that fluttery feeling! :D

I thought I wanted a mermaid until I tried a couple on. Most are very restrictive in the leg area, would be really difficult to dance around. Sheaths with a trumpet bottom are nice, loose and really comfortable and still show off your shape.
