I have found the perfect dress that I would love to order but I am being told by friends who used to live in America that once the dress is delivered I may have to pay customs and excise charges. I live in the UK and would appreciate your replies if anyone knows anything about these charges.
Thanks

if we delivery it as a gift you will not have taxes duties or tariffs. Keep in mind it won't be insured doing it that way. If you want it insured you will probably have to pay the taxes duties or tariffs.

Hi I am from UK too thinking of getting a dress online. To get the amount of customs it is best to phone customs on 0845 010 9000 (I just did it). I didn't get an exact quote coz you need to get a code and things but they will help you or give you more advice. They said that it would prob be around 12% duty and around 17% VAT so you're talking around 30% extra so I suppose it depends how much you could save by getting it online. The women I spoke to also was not sure if you are allowed to get it as a gift if it is worth over a certain amount. Think best to give them a bell. If you find out any more it would be appreciated as in same situation
