Hey ladies -

What kinds of things do you look at when choosing a wedding photographer? Is it the price, the quality? Or some other factors? How do you choose the best photographer to shoot your wedding?

I consider all of the factors, price, quality, quantity. For our wedding I found a very affordable photographer that I paid by the hour instead of the day (it was actually cheaper for us that way) and she took all digital photos. When the wedding was done she mailed us 4 cd's of digital photographs and we got a copy of each of the photos in a 4x6 size. It was so affordable, because we didn't have to pay for albums and photos ahead of time. We took our digital photos uploaded them in Target's database, ordered pictures and went and picked them up. It was so stinking cheap to do it that way - buying the photos yourself instead of from the photographer. We probably saved around $1500.00. I suggest price shopping, but you can't ignore quality - these are your wedding photos.

Bridal girl that is a great tip. I'll look at more than what I've chosen so far. Your advice opens up more selections than the ones I'm currently looking at. Thanks.

Our wedding photographer in Malta was fantastic and the one thing we asked him for was informal shots. And they are gorgeous!

I think when choosing somebody to take the memories of this special day you have to ask to see samples of past work, Once you are satisfied then start asking about prices.

We paid hourly rate and even had a private photo session in one of the historical cities - Mdina. It is so medieval and our wedding planner had brought props to add that magic touch. We were asked to write down any particular places we liked and a plan was put togther including a car to escort us. The photographer has to be relaxed and yet professional. Another thought is to always go by recommendations from friends and family. You hear enough good things then you know you will get quality pictures.

Our negatives of all 497 photos (every one taken on the day) was presented to us on DVD and 60 were printed and fixed into an album. What more can you ask for. We collected them 2 days before we left Malta. It was perfect.
