I'm newly engaged and I've been married before, however, I didn't have a wedding. My parents are divorced and I'm not close to either of them. My grandparents raised me. I want a wedding not only because of me, but because this is my fiance's first time being married and I really want one this time. I don't know how to go about stuff in the ceremony when I don't want my father or mom to participate. I do have 2 children previously but I'd rather not go that route either. I guess I don't want anyone to "give" me away. How to I go about this?

Are you doing the full blown church wedding thing or are you looking at another type of setting?
I have seen weddings where the bride walked down the aisle alone and I didn't think there was anything wrong with that.
You may want to check with your officiant and see if they have suggestions. They have seen many weddings and may have a unique idea for you.

Just a suggestion but what about a destination wedding?

I would walk down by yourself, I had a friend do that and she was beautiful!!!
Did you order your gown off this website?

Yeah, why not walking down the aisle yourself? I think that would be ok. Wait, how about asking your grandfather to walk you? :)

Well it is yours and your fiance's day and ceremony, you can have it the way you want it. How do YOU and your FIANCE envision you wedding? Plan it the way you want. I agree with one of the other posts, check with your officiant to get some ideas. You could also consider consulting a wedding planner/coordinator. Like others here have said, there is nothing wrong with walking down the isle alone. My biggest suggestion is for you and your fiance to sit down together and use your imaginations and come up with your own ideas as to how the two of you want the wedding ceremony to go. Then discuss your ideas with your officiant. Remember It Is Your Day!!!!!!!! Good luck :D
