Current Styles & Trends. For brides, shoe styles must complement the wedding dress as well as the personal style of the bride herself. Many brides are opting for flats (like a pretty ballerina flat from Dyeables) or flip flops (albeit something appropriately sparkly and bridal like the Lava by Colorful Creations 255), but some glamorous heels are still a popular choice. Ivory or white is still king, but plenty of brides are opting for colored shoes (for either their "something blue" or to coordinate with bridesmaid dresses or flowers) or metallic or rhinestone-encrusted options.

Picking The Right Shoe. Whether you're a bride, bridesmaid, or attending some other formal event, picking the right shoe is critical to your actual enjoyment of that event (because you'll probably be on your feet a lot!). Select your heel height based on what you're used to -- if you wear 3+ inch heels on a daily basis, you might be able to dance the night away in that fabulous pair of 4+ inch platform heels, but if you're normally a flats kind of girl, a 2-3 inch heel might be all you (and your feet) will want to deal with.
And if you're a bride picking shoes for your bridesmaids? Even though you might be dazzled by some sexy stilettos for your girls, be kind -- they'll be standing a LOT, and there are plenty of options that are striking and less tough on the tootsies.

Size. At, we find our designers' shoes tend to run true to size in general when compared to shoes from popular retailers like Nine West, Keds and Cole Haan. If you're looking at a size chart and you're not sure which size to order, we always suggest going to the larger size -- you can always add toe or heel pads, but you don't want your feet hurting on your wedding day! We also recommend going up a half-size in any open-back or sandal style. For information on how to measure your foot, see our shoe shopping tips page here.
